Be still and know that I am God.

It’s a delightful feeling to receive and even reciprocate love one to another. I am reminded of that love when I think about the abundance of it that God has bestowed on us through being a sacrifice, being merciful, giving us grace and so much more. We all want to find that special one that God has created for us to shower them with our love. We all want to experience marriage one day. Often times we look around and see “happy” couples and in return idolize their relationships that seemingly looks good on the outside not knowing what is going on internally. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to be someone’s wife or husband. But what if they never show up, will you be content in God? If God is all you have, will you be satisfied with only Him? That’s a question as a single we must ask ourselves.

We have to get to a place in God where we are so full in him that he is all that we are longing for and need. Yes, it is true that He knows the desires of our hearts and wants to fulfill them. But are you patient enough to wait for that which he wants to give? Sometimes we want God to bring us our spouse right now so we try to rush God’s time and handpick what we want. What will you accomplish in rushing? A heartache. Wait, God’s timing is perfect. As a woman or man of God, we must seek guidance from him in all things. We must be wise in our decision making.

“But godliness with contentment is great gain.” (1 Timothy‬ ‭6:6‬ ‭)

We cannot possibly be focused on God and mirror or take on the characteristics of Christ when we aren’t content in the place he has us now. Your attention will be shifted towards your desire and not God. You can’t allow the desires of your heart to take precedence or the place of God. You are basically telling God, “You aren’t enough, your company isn’t enough, what we share isn’t enough. I’m not happy and I need more than what you are giving me.” We make relationships and marriage our god not being knowledgeable enough to discern that these things can’t bring or give us salvation. We must take our desires to God and leave them there, trusting and having faith that he will give them to us in his timing according to his will.

The heart is rich when it is content, and it is always content when its desires are fixed on God.
